The establishment exclusively houses foreign national offenders, typically those nearing the end of their custodial sentences and awaiting deportation. Originally constructed as an internment camp during World War II, the site opened as a prison in 1946 and has since evolved into a specialist facility with a capacity of approximately 400-480 inmates.Your new role As an Electrician, you will carry out installations, testing and commissioning of electrical systems in line with statutory regulations and industry best practice. You will complete planned maintenance, respond to CAFM-generated service requests, and ensure tasks are prioritised effectively.Key responsibilities include:Supervising prisoners during work and training activities.Completing maintenance and inspection tasks, including in confined spaces and at height.Managing stock levels and requesting materials as required.Escorting and supervising contractors under the Local Security Strategy (LSS).Maintaining regular radio communication in line with LSS.Accepting appointments as a competent/authorised person under GFSL safe systems of work.Driving estate vehicles and operating plant equipment (where qualified).Completing locking duties when required.Undertaking urgent/emergency tasks within agreed timescales.Supporting tool inv
