Microelectronic Interconnect Operations ManagerWe have an exciting opportunity in the Particle Physics Sub-Department at the University of Oxford for an experienced Microelectronic Interconnect Operations Manager. This is a permanent, full-time position.
OPMD is a cleanroom silicon facility in central Oxford, working on radiation imaging silicon detectors for Particle Physics, including projects like the ATLAS experiment at CERN. The role involves managing interconnect and wire-bonding activities for long-term production projects, including large arrays of full-recticle and wafer-size semiconductor sensors, as well as one-off RandD pieces and small commercial activities requiring rapid turnaround.
You will be responsible for the operation and maintenance of a suite of semi-automatic ultrasonic wire-bonding systems, as well as part preparation and quality control systems including: plasma-cleaning, pull-testing, QC inspection, glue deposition, and die attach. You should have the experience to suggest changes to prototype PCB or ASIC designs to improve reliability and performance of interconnects for in-house and external projects. You will also be responsible for the training and supervision of an apprentice interconnects technician, and you will manage a small team of junior interconnect operatives and their workflows.
About youWe need an expert operator who can manage multiple concurrent projects of varying scales and importance. You should be comfortable in a research-based environment while also applying a production-based mindset to meet deadlines. Significant experience with interconnect systems, experience with large detector/imaging sensors, and experience in academic collaborations are highly valued. Experience in a cleanroom and in laboratory management is beneficial.
