• Producing technical documentation and following software engineering best practices.
• Contributing to continuous improvements in software quality and development processes.

We're particularly interested in candidates with the following skills and experience:

• Strong commercial software engineering experience using Python.
• Experience working with GIS (Geographic Information Systems) or geospatial data.
• Good working knowledge of Linux environments.
• Experience developing data interfaces, integrations or processing workflows.
• A solid understanding of software engineering principles, testing and quality assurance.
• Experience working with complex datasets or data-intensive applications.
• Strong communication skills and the ability to work with technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Any experience in the following areas would be advantageous:

• Scientific software engineering or research software development.
• High Performance Computing (HPC) environments.
• Modelling, simulation or scientific computing applications.
• Fortran development or integration with legacy scientific software.
• Weather, climate, environmental or geospatial technologies.
• Large-scale data processing and workflow automation.

Previous experience within meteorology or climate science is not essential. We welcome applications from experienced software engineers working across aerospace, defence, research, environmental technology and other data-intensive industries.
