We are seeking a highly experienced and commercially-minded Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a significant highways project in the Hampshire region. This is a freelance opportunity with a leading principal contractor, offering a chance to play a pivotal role in the successful delivery of a major heavy civils scheme.
The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects and be adept at managing all commercial aspects from inception to completion.
Responsibilities
Financial Guardianship: Take ownership of all project costs, from initial budget forecasting and monitoring to final account settlements, ensuring commercial targets are met.
Subcontractor Expertise: Manage the full subcontractor life cycle, including drafting contracts, negotiation, and diligent administration of payments, variations, and claims.
Strategic Commercial Insight: Act as a trusted commercial advisor to the project team, guiding strategic decisions to ensure profitable and efficient project delivery.
Proactive Risk Mitigation: Lead the identification and mitigation of commercial and contractual risks, protecting the project from unforeseen financial and operational challenges.
Stakeholder Partnership: Cultivate strong relationships with the client and key stakeholders, ensuring clear communication and the effective resolution of all commercial matters.
Requirements / Qualifications
Proven track record of delivering complex infrastructure projects and adept at managing all commercial aspects from inception to completion.
Experience in highways/highway projects preferred.
Strong contractual and commercial awareness, with experience in contracts, payments, variations, and claims.
Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Eligibility to live and work in the UK.
