Key Responsibilities - SEN Teaching Assistant, Watford

  • Provide consistent 1:1 and in-class support for pupils with ASD and additional needs.
  • Support pupils with complex needs in accessing the curriculum and participating in school life.
  • Implement tailored strategies to support learning, behaviour, communication, and emotional regulation.
  • Work closely with the class teacher and SENCO to adapt lesson materials and activities.
  • Build strong, trusting, and professional relationships with pupils.
  • Create a positive, inclusive, calm, and safe learning environment.
  • Support pupils'' academic progress and emotional wellbeing throughout the school day.
  • Encourage independence, confidence, and positive social development.

The Ideal Candidate for the role of SEN Teaching Assistant in Watford

  • Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN is essential.
  • Experience supporting pupils with complex needs and/or ASD.
  • Strong background in 1:1 and small-group support.
  • Experience working in a school, specialist setting, or similar educational environment.
  • Calm, patient, nurturing, and consistent approach.
  • Confident supporting behaviour and emotional regulation.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
