Site Engineer – Major Infrastructure Project

We are currently representing a leading civil engineering contractor delivering key packages on a major infrastructure project in Oxfordshire. They are looking to appoint an experienced Site Engineer with a strong background in groundworks and earthworks to support delivery on site. This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established business delivering large-scale infrastructure schemes, with a focus on bulk earthworks, drainage, and associated civil engineering works.
The Role
As Site Engineer, you will play a key role in supporting the delivery of groundworks and earthworks packages, ensuring all engineering activities are carried out safely, accurately, and in line with programme requirements. You will be heavily involved in setting out, volume calculations, and working closely with site teams and subcontractors to drive progress on site.
Key Responsibilities
- Setting out for groundworks, earthworks, and drainage in accordance with design drawings
- Supporting bulk earthworks operations including cut & fill, muck shifting, and grading
- Carrying out and checking levels, volumes, and surveys
- Assisting with QA, inspections, and as-built documentation
- Monitoring progress against programme and reporting updates
- Coordinating with subcontractors and plant teams on site
- Resolving technical queries and liaising with the design team
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer within groundworks, earthworks, or major infrastructure
- Strong experience in bulk earthworks, drainage, and site preparation works
- Good understanding of levels, volumes, and machine control (desirable)
- Strong setting out and technical ability
- Ability to work effectively within a fast-paced site environment
Essential Qualifications
- Degree in Civil Engineering or related discipline (or equivalent experience)
- CSCS Card
Desirable
- SMSTS
- Experience with machine control systems (GPS)
- Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC)
