Thorn Baker are working with a well-established and growing construction contractor that is seeking an Estimator or Senior Estimator to join its expanding pre-construction team. This is a key appointment within a busy division, offering the opportunity to work on a varied portfolio of projects across multiple sectors. Working closely with the Pre-Construction Manager and wider commercial and operational teams, you will be responsible for:

• Reviewing tender documentation and project requirements
• Carrying out measurement, pricing and cost planning activities
• Managing subcontractor and supplier enquiries
• Identifying risks, opportunities and value engineering solutions
• Preparing tender submissions and adjudication documentation
• Supporting negotiated, framework and competitive tender opportunities
• Managing multiple tenders simultaneously across a diverse project portfolio

The role supports a rolling programme of tenders and pre-construction activity rather than a single project.

• Refurbishment
• Alterations
• Fit-out
• Roofing
• Maintenance works
• Selected new-build projects

Typically ranging up to £10m, with opportunities to support larger framework and strategic bids.

We''re interested in speaking with candidates from:

• Main contractors (preferred)
• Specialist subcontractors
• Cost consultancies

You''ll ideally have:

• Experience in construction estimating and tender management
• Strong pricing, measurement and procurement skills
• Knowledge of competitive, negotiated and framework tendering
• Commercial awareness and a proactive approach to risk management
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with estimating software such as Conquest, Causeway or similar platforms
• A construction, commercial or quantity surveying qualification (beneficial but not essential)
