Engineering Director
to head their design and delivery teams. This senior leadership role is perfect for a commercially aware, technically grounded professional who thrives on delivering high-impact projects that contribute to net-zero goals.About the Role
As Engineering Director, you’ll take full ownership of departmental performance and strategic delivery across three key teams:
Mechanical and Electrical (MandE) Design , Climate Change Engineers , and
Energy Services . With responsibility for budget performance, operational delivery, and team leadership, you’ll drive excellence in service provision and champion innovation in sustainable engineering solutions.You''ll be customer-facing, technically capable, and a strategic thinker – playing a central role in shaping future services, managing partnerships, and ensuring the business stays at the forefront of the evolving energy and built environment sectors.Key Responsibilities
Engineering LeadershipDeliver on departmental PandL, budgets, and performance KPIs.
Build and maintain a pipeline of revenue-generating engineering and infrastructure services.
Guide clients through MandE design from feasibility to construction (RIBA 1–7).
Lead consultancy offerings across PSDS, LCSF, ESOS, HDPs, and more.
Manage and evolve technical partnerships for long-term growth.
Champion innovation across EV infrastructure, Solar PV, energy audits, and climate-focused projects.
People and CultureLead, mentor, and inspire three multidisciplinary teams.
Conduct regular performance and development reviews.
Promote knowledge sharing, training, and technical excellence across teams.
Support team engagement, well-being, and HR compliance in alignment with company values.
What You’ll Bring
Skills and Experience10+ years’ experience in engineering leadership roles.
Proven success managing design, consultancy, or energy service projects.
Strong communication, project management, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Commercial awareness and a strategic mindset.
Technical KnowledgeExpertise in MandE design and delivery, including condition surveys and compliance.
Solid grasp of regulations and programmes including ESOS, PSDS, CCA, MEES, and CDM.
Proficient in software such as AutoCAD, Dialux, Trimble Amtech (or equivalents)
QualificationsDegree-qualified in Engineering or a related technical field.
Chartered Engineer (or working toward chartership) – support available.
Ideally affiliated with CIBSE and/or IET.
