We are seeking a dedicated and experienced
School Chef Manager
to take the lead at a busy secondary school in the
BR7
Chislehurst
area. This site serves between
1,000 and 1,300 students and staff daily , offering freshly prepared meals for breakfast, break, and lunch services.As Chef Manager, you will oversee all day-to-day kitchen operations, lead a
large team of General Assistants , and ensure the consistent delivery of healthy, high-quality meals. This is a great opportunity for someone who thrives in a fast-paced school environment and is passionate about nutrition and food service.Key Responsibilities
Plan and deliver nutritious, well-balanced meals in line with school food standards
Manage and motivate a large team of General Assistants to deliver efficient service across all mealtimes
Supervise breakfast, mid-morning break, and lunch service
Maintain the highest standards of food hygiene, health and safety, and allergen compliance
Monitor kitchen performance, manage stock, control budgets, and ensure accurate ordering
Liaise with school leadership to tailor menus and accommodate dietary requirements
Foster a positive and inclusive environment for both staff and students
About You
The ideal candidate will:Have strong experience in large-scale catering, ideally within schools or education settings
Possess excellent leadership and organisational skills
Be qualified in Food Safety (Level 3 or equivalent) and confident in all compliance procedures
Demonstrate a passion for food, nutrition, and student wellbeing
Be confident managing kitchen staff, rotas, stock levels, and supplier relationships
Work calmly under pressure and have a hands-on approach to kitchen operations
