Technical & Applications Analyst
We are recruiting a Technical Infrastructure Analyst to join the IT function of a leading national commercial services organisation that forms part of a major European group.
This is a broad, hands on technical position supporting the Windows, Microsoft Azure and Remote Desktop environments underpinning business critical services across the UK.
You will combine day to day technical support with infrastructure improvement and project delivery. The role would suit an experienced Infrastructure Analyst or 3rd Line Engineer who enjoys working across both cloud and on premises technology rather than specialising exclusively in one area.
The role
Working closely with UK stakeholders and the wider European IT function, you will help maintain the availability, performance and resilience of the organisation''s core systems and infrastructure.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Supporting and maintaining Windows Server and Microsoft Azure environments
- Configuring, supporting and troubleshooting Remote Desktop Services
- Administering Azure services, including Entra ID and Identity and Access Management
- Supporting Azure networking, automation and storage
- Investigating and resolving complex incidents, service requests and system alerts
- Using PowerShell and other scripting tools to automate administrative tasks
- Monitoring systems and ensuring services operate within agreed SLAs
- Identifying recurring problems and documenting technical fixes and work instructions
- Supporting disaster recovery and business continuity planning
- Contributing to infrastructure upgrades and the implementation of new platforms
- Acting as a technical resource within projects relating to your areas of expertise
- Translating business requirements and operational issues into practical technical solutions
- Supporting application super users and resolving underlying technical issues
- Maintaining IT processes and supporting continual service improvement
- Building effective relationships with technical and business colleagues across the UK and Europe
Experience Required
The successful candidate will have hands-on experience across:
- Windows Server architecture and administration
- Microsoft Azure administration
- Entra ID, identity and access management
- Remote Desktop Services configuration and support
- Azure networking, automation or storage
- PowerShell, VBScript or comparable scripting technologies
- Network protocols and troubleshooting
- Disaster recovery and business continuity
- Incident, problem and change management within an ITIL environment
You do not need to be an expert across every technology. However, you should possess strong Windows and Azure foundations, confidence troubleshooting complex technical issues and the ability to learn unfamiliar systems.
Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:
- Microsoft Intune and mobile device management
- Azure Data Factory
- Meraki networking, including design, implementation or support
About you
You will be a practical and curious technical professional who is comfortable taking ownership of problems through to resolution. You should be able to balance reactive support with planned project work and communicate clearly with both technical specialists and business users.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone seeking a varied infrastructure role offering exposure to business critical systems, Azure technologies, automation and projects within an international organisation.
