Under the contract Costain provide the overall management and delivery of United Utilities'' larger-scale water and wastewater asset maintenance activities across the entirety of its network, including 96 water treatment and 575 wastewater treatment sites, which serves over six million people in the Northwest of England.We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join the dynamic Core Project Team on the Framework, which delivers critical and complex infrastructure improvements for our client United Utilities. Projects range in value and the Senior Quantity Surveyor will be directly responsible for the commercial management of a portfolio of projects.The role of the Senior Quantity Surveyor is to provide commercial support on projects to ensure that it is procured, delivered within budget and to the highest quality whilst exceeding our customers'' expectations. You will lead and develop where necessary the efficient and effective management and issue of accurate, timely and compliant notices and correspondence and ensure the compliance of all contractual activities on the project. You will ensure contractual and commercial risks and opportunities are identified to the Project Director / Commercial Manager and address in a timely manner.The role is based around Hybrid working within our Manchester Office and home and ideally you will be based in or around the North West, where you will have the opportunity to visit operational sites across the region.ResponsibilitiesMaintaining registers of variations, delay, extension times and claims, effective and consistent implementation of the Company''s commercial policies and procedures, within a timely mannerAssist with preparation of monthly progress valuations and claim for work completedLiaise with Employers commercial team and client team within a collaborative manner to leverage opportunity and optimise the project outturnProduce pre-Contract tender negotiations and reports where necessaryProduce monthly cost reports, forecasts, and Contract Budget reports to ensure details are appropriately underpinned and robustReview value management / value engineering exercisesAdvise on Risk management and participate in Risk workshopPrepare, review and complete of sub-contract documentationPlan change management and cost controlProduce and monitor Commercial / Contractual correspondence and issues to reflect COSTAIN best practicePrepare and agree final accounts with sub contractorReview subcontract tender enquiriesAgree final accountsIdentify and price specification changesManage subcontracts from initial placement of order to final accountMonitor and update Procurement Plan, Sub-contract procurement including analysing commercial comparisonsProduce requisition and award lettersAttend site meetings where necessary to guide any direct reports, review progress and implement best practiceReconcile weekly plant, material, labour reconciliation against budgetMonitor cash to ensure payments made on time to COSTAINQualificationsExperience of NEC form of ContractSignificant commercial experience preferably in the water sectorIncreasing knowledge of a variety of forms and options of contractsHave a good understanding and experience of business systems, spreadsheet development, cost analysis, programme evaluation and development, compensation event and/or variations assessment and evaluationHave experience or appreciation of the risk management process for both schedule and cost and the use of Earned Value ManagementFull Clean Drivers LicenceRelevant degree / equivalent in Quantity SurveyingHold / nearing completion of Full Membership of either RICS or CICES#LI-JA1About UsCostain helps to improve people''s lives with integrated, leading edge, smart infrastructure solutions across the UK''s energy, water, transportation and defence markets.
