Salary / Benefits: £35-45k Contract Type - Permanent Job Elements • The CNC Engineer (Setter/Programmer) will program, set up and operate CNC milling and turning machines to produce high-quality precision components. • You will take work from drawing or model through to first-off approval and stable production, and you will help train and support operators on the shop floor. • Interpret engineering drawings, 3D models and process sheets, including GDandT and tolerances. • Write, edit and optimise CNC programs using both machine control and CAM software. • Select and specify cutting tools, work-holding, fixtures and speeds and feeds for each job. • Set up CNC machines, load tooling, set work and tool offsets, and prove out programs safely. • Produce and inspect first-off parts, adjust, and sign off for production. • Monitor machine performance, tool wear and part quality during runs, making corrections as needed. • Use inspection equipment (micrometers, calipers, bore gauges, height gauges, CMM where applicable) and record results. • Continuously improve cycle times, tool life and set-up times to reduce cost and scrap. • Support, guide and train CNC operators and apprentices. The ideal candidate will have: • Recognised apprenticeship, NVQ/City and Guilds Level 3 (or equivalent) in Engineering or Machining. • Further CNC programming or CAM training is an advantage. • Proven experience as a CNC setter and programmer in a precision engineering or manufacturing environment. • ..... full job details .....
