We are currently recruiting enthusiastic & confident Cover Supervisors to join secondary schools in Nottingham. This is an exciting opportunity for young professionals, graduates, or those considering a career in teaching to gain hands-on experience in the classroom.
The RoleAs a Cover Supervisor, you''ll take the lead in managing a classroom when a teacher is absent — delivering pre-set work, maintaining behaviour, and ensuring students stay on task. It’s a perfect stepping stone for anyone thinking about a future in education, whether you’re planning to become a teacher or just looking to build transferable skills in leadership and communication.
Key ResponsibilitiesSupervise students across various subjects, following lesson plans left by teaching staff
Ensure a calm, focused classroom environment where students can learn
Manage behaviour and promote positive conduct in line with school policy
Collect completed work and report back to teaching staff
Offer light guidance on tasks, supporting students where appropriate
We’re looking for confident, reliable individuals who meet the following:
Education: Minimum of a Level 3 qualification (A-Levels or equivalent) – graduates encouraged to apply
Experience: Previous experience working with young people is a bonus but not essential (e.g., sports coaching, tutoring, mentoring)
Skills:
Good communication and confidence speaking to groups
Ability to stay calm, adaptable, and professional
Strong sense of responsibility and reliability
DBS: Must have or be willing to obtain an enhanced DBS check (Child Workforce). If not registered to the update service, this may involve a cost
Ideal for recent graduates, gap year students, or those exploring a career in education
Flexible work that fits around other commitments or studies
Valuable classroom experience before enrolling in teacher training or PGCE
Build confidence, leadership, and behaviour management skills
