At Springer Health+, we see beyond the data – we see the people behind every breakthrough, and we help move science forward to improve healthcare outcomes.About the role: As a Senior Medical Editor, you will work closely with team members to produce high-quality scientific content for medical communications and medical education that satisfies client needs. You will review, copyedit and proofread a wide range of scientific documents and materials, manage account style guides, and consult with account scientific leads on style questions.Responsibilities
Review and edit content, including manuscripts, reports, abstracts, presentations, posters, digital content and other medical communications and education deliverablesCheck for grammatical, spelling and punctuation errors, and make necessary correctionsSuggest changes to improve clarity and flow of contentProofread content, including review of page proofs and line-by-line checks of typeset layoutsEnsure content adheres to appropriate style and toneReview artworked graphs and figures for accuracy and adherence to styleMaintain consistency within and between projects according to style guidesVerify facts and figures against references to ensure accuracy and consistencyDevelop and maintain account style guidesCollaborate with editors, writers, scientific leads, designers, typesetters and client services personnelMeet deadlines and work efficiently under pressureParticipate in internal editorial meetings and contribute to editorial workflow improvementsManage time effectively to deliver high-quality projects on time and within budget, highlighting potential delays to the teamEducation, Experience and Skills
EducationEssential: Bachelor of Arts in English or Bachelor of Science in a Life ScienceDesirableHigher degree (MSc or PhD)ExperienceEssential: Extensive experience as a copyeditor/technical editor/proofreader within medical communication agencies or the pharmaceutical/healthcare industrySkillsExcellent copyediting skills with strong grammar, spelling and punctuation, and ability to revise content for clarity and coherenceProficient scientific editing skills with fact-checking abilityHigh level of accuracy and attention to detail, adhering to established style guides and toneExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProactive, flexible team player with a collaborative approachAdaptable to various projects, styles and therapeutic areasOrganised with strong time managementProficient in common software (e.g., Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, EndNote) and quick to learn new toolsDesirable: Experience with industry-wide guidelines and editorial styles (e.g., AMA style)EEO Statement: Springer Nature is a Disability Confident Committed Employer.
