Science Technician - Secondary School
Are you a science graduate or experienced laboratory professional looking for an opportunity within education? A well-established secondary school in Ealing is seeking a reliable and enthusiastic Science Technician to join its science department from September 2026.
This is a full-time position, Monday to Friday, for approximately one term initially, with a strong possibility of extension for the right person. The role offers an excellent opportunity to work alongside experienced science teachers and contribute to practical learning across the department.
The school has a strong academic focus and is committed to providing students with engaging, practical experiences in science. You will become an important member of the department, helping ensure lessons are prepared safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
About the Role
You will provide technical and practical support across Biology, Chemistry and Physics. From preparing experiments and organising equipment to maintaining laboratory standards, you will help teachers deliver effective practical lessons.
The role would suit someone who is organised, methodical and confident working in a laboratory environment.
Key Responsibilities
Prepare equipment, chemicals and materials for practical lessons.
Set up and clear away experiments before and after classes.
Ensure laboratories are kept clean, organised and ready for use.
Maintain appropriate records of equipment and resources.
Check laboratory equipment and report any faults or maintenance requirements.
Support teachers during practical activities where required.
Ensure health and safety procedures are consistently followed.
Assist with ordering and maintaining stocks of science materials.
Help create an environment where students can safely participate in practical work.
What We''re Looking For
A degree in a relevant scientific subject or equivalent laboratory experience.
Previous experience working within a laboratory, school or similar scientific environment.
Good understanding of laboratory health and safety procedures.
Strong organisational and time-management skills.
A careful and methodical approach to practical work.
Ability to work independently and as part of a department.
Excellent attention to detail.
Enhanced DBS on the Update Service or willingness to obtain one.
Right to work in the UK.
