An excellent opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer is now available to join a well-established Engineer Company based in Rugby. Reporting to the Head of Engineering you will play a key role providing expertise in the design, manufacture and repair of complex equipment with a specific focus on the development of large Hydro Generators. Ideally, you will have extensive mechanical design experience, working on complex projects involving rotating machinery such as generators, motors, turbines, pumps or similar. Responsibilities: Lead the mechanical design of machinery, including stators, rotors, assemblies, upgrades, and retrofit projects. Provide engineering leadership across all project phases, working closely with clients and stakeholders. Use simulation and modelling tools to validate performance and compliance with requirements. Oversee and participate in testing activities, both in-factory and on-site. Carry out diagnostics, condition analysis, and life-cycle evaluations, producing clear technical reports. Deliver service and maintenance support to ensure reliability and long-term asset performance. Partner with tendering and project management teams on bids, proposals, and execution. Develop and implement test methodologies for dynamic machinery testing, analysing performance data. Perform root cause analysis on machinery failures and recommend corrective actions.
