We are currently recruiting for a dedicated, enthusiastic and confident Long-Term Cover Supervisor to join a welcoming and supportive secondary academy in Rotherham, with an immediate start available.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about education and enjoys working with young people. You will be responsible for supervising classes across Key Stages 3 and 4, ensuring students remain engaged in their learning and that a positive, safe and productive classroom environment is maintained in the absence of their usual teacher.

You will be working through Tradewind Education, one of the UK''s leading education recruitment agencies, who will provide ongoing support throughout your placement.

• Supervise whole classes of secondary-aged students in the absence of their regular teacher.
• Deliver pre-planned lesson materials and ensure students remain on task.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively, maintaining high standards of conduct and engagement.
• Create a positive, inclusive and purposeful learning environment.
• Support students with their learning, answering questions and providing guidance where appropriate.
• Ensure all students follow academy policies, procedures and expectations.
• Manage classroom resources and ensure work is completed within the allocated lesson time.
• Report any behavioural, safeguarding or pastoral concerns to the appropriate member of staff.
• Take accurate registers and follow academy procedures.
• Build positive and professional relationships with students and staff.

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Experience working with young people, ideally within a secondary school setting.
• Strong classroom and behaviour management skills.
• Confidence supervising groups of students aged 11-16.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• The ability to engage, motivate and encourage students.
• A flexible, proactive and adaptable approach.
• The ability to work independently and use initiative.
• A genuine passion for education and supporting young people''s development.
• A professional attitude and commitment to safeguarding.

Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor, Teaching Assistant or within a similar educational role would be advantageous, although candidates with transferable experience will also be considered.
