What We do / The TeamThe Cloud Architecture team in Enterprise Technology serves to enable tech teams to build secure, modern, cloud-native solutions on-premises or in the public cloud. We focus on filling the gaps between tools and platforms, accelerating adoption through proven patterns and hands-on support. We deliver reference architectures, code accelerators, and production-grade examples, while offering advisory services and collaborative engagement with teams to help them deliver robust, scalable solutions.Role Overview/What will you do:Set up, test, and troubleshoot containerised development environments using PodmanContribute to the development of code acceleratorsWrite small tools (mostly in Python, Bash or Terraform) to support developer workflows or demosParticipate in hands-on prototyping or demos of architectural patterns for internal teamsCreate and update internal documentation and developer guides to make it easier for teams to adoptJoin pairing or working sessions with other engineers across the organisation to help smooth the path to adoptionLearn and explore new tools and cloud native technologies (e.g. AWS, GCP, Snowflake, Databricks) under the guidance of senior team membersKey Skills and Experience requiredA strong academic background in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related technical disciplineProficiency in Java or PythonStrong written and verbal communication skillsProactive learner with the ability to self-teach new tools and technologies; an ability to educate othersFamiliarity with the Linux command line and shell scriptingUnderstanding of basic data concepts file formats (e.g. CSV, Parquet), data pipelines, and storage layersExposure to containers and Podman or DockerComfortable using Git; an awareness of CI/CD practices and tools such as GitHub Actions or Azure DevOpsNice to have:Experience of working with Apache Spark / Flink / KafkaFamiliarity with object storage e.g. AWS S3Knowledge of containerised development workflows using e.g., VSCodeBasic understanding of cloud platforms like AWS or GCPExperience contributing to open-source or internal code templates, demos, or acceleratorsFamiliarity with data catalog services (e.g. Hive, Polaris, Glue)This job description provides a high-level review of the types of work performed.
