Hays is delighted to be partnering with a growing Edinburgh-based fit-out contractor as they look to appoint an experienced Quantity Surveyor to play a key role in the continued development of their business.
Led by a highly experienced and well-connected Director with an excellent reputation for business development and client relationships, the company has ambitious plans for growth and an increasing pipeline of opportunities.
This is not simply another Quantity Surveyor position. For the right individual, there is a genuine opportunity to develop into Commercial Manager and, longer term, Commercial Director, with the potential for an equity stake in the business.

Your new role

You will take a broad commercial role across the business, working closely with the Director and taking responsibility for projects from initial enquiry and tender stage through to final account.
Your responsibilities will include:

• Estimating and pricing new fit-out opportunities
• Preparing tenders, budgets and commercial proposals
• Procurement and subcontractor management
• Managing project costs, valuations and variations
• Commercial management of live fit-out projects
• Forecasting and reporting
• Managing final accounts
• Working directly with clients, subcontractors and the operational team
• Supporting the commercial strategy and continued growth of the business

The position offers significant autonomy and the chance to influence how the commercial function develops as the company grows.

What you''ll need to succeed

You will ideally be an experienced Quantity Surveyor with a background in commercial fit-out, refurbishment or interiors and comfortable operating across both pre-construction/estimating and project delivery.
Just as importantly, you will be commercially minded and ambitious, with the confidence to take ownership and work closely with senior leadership.This could particularly suit a QS who feels ready for more responsibility and greater influence, but who may not have that opportunity within their current organisation.What you''ll get in returnThis is a rare opportunity to join a growing contractor where your impact on the business will be highly visible.
