Covertec Structures is looking for a Machine Operative to join our workshop team in Lutterworth. You don''t need to be an experienced PVC welder – full training can be provided on the welding process and machinery.

Covertec Structures is a family-run manufacturer based in Lutterworth, specialising in outdoor industrial roller blinds and weather protection products for the agricultural industry.

We''re a small, close-knit workshop team, and this role has been an important part of the business for over 20 years. We''re looking for someone who wants to join a stable business and build a long-term career with us.

The role

As a Machine Operative / PVC Welder, you''ll work with PVC fabric, preparing, cutting and joining materials to create finished products for our customers.

You''ll be trained to use our specialist high-frequency welding machinery, so previous PVC welding experience isn''t essential.

The work is practical and hands-on, and accuracy is important. You''ll be working from measurements and specifications, making precise cuts and ensuring finished products are straight, square and correctly assembled.

Some of the materials can weigh up to around 40kg, so you''ll need to be comfortable with manual handling.

You''ll be responsible for:

• Measuring and marking PVC fabric accurately using tape and laser measures
• Cutting materials cleanly and accurately to specification
• Operating workshop machinery safely and efficiently
• Learning to operate our high-frequency PVC welding machinery
• Joining PVC sections together to create finished products
• Checking your work carefully to ensure it meets the required specification
• Following a consistent, repeatable manufacturing process
• Keeping your work area clean, organised and safe
• Following all company health and safety procedures

What we''re looking for

Essential:

• Previous experience operating machinery in a manufacturing, workshop or production environment
• Good attention to detail and pride in producing accurate work
• Comfortable working from measurements and specifications
• Confident using basic measuring equipment such as tape measures
• Able to make accurate, straight cuts
• Comfortable with physical, hands-on work and manual handling of materials up to approximately 40kg
• Reliable, practical and willing to learn
• Good understanding of workplace health and safety

Experience that would be useful – but isn''t essential:

• PVC welding or high-frequency welding
• Industrial sewing or use of a walking-foot lockstitch machine
• Working with fabric, textiles, PVC or similar materials
• Experience working with sheet materials
• Experience in a workshop, manufacturing or trade environment

The right attitude and attention to detail are more important than having specific PVC welding experience – we''ll teach you the rest.

What you''ll get

£13.50–£15.00 per hour depending on experience

Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm

Overtime available when workload is high

Overtime is optional – there''s no expectation to work extra hours, even during the busy winter period

Full training provided on the PVC welding machinery and manufacturing techniques

Long-term stability – this role has been part of the business for over 20 years

Working arrangements

Location: Lutterworth, Leicestershire
Contract: Permanent, full-time
Hours: Monday–Friday, 7am–4pm

Please note: The business is busiest during the winter months, so there may be more overtime available during this period. Where possible, holidays are preferably taken during the spring, summer and autumn months.
