Job Title: Senior Engineer (x2 vacancies)Salary Range: £43,545 - £62,451 paFull Time, PermanentLocation: Frogmore Complex, Wandsworth, SW18 1EYObjective of role: Are you an ambitious and talented civil engineer seeking to take the next step in your career?Richmond and Wandsworth Councils have exciting opportunities for 2 Senior Engineers within the Traffic and Engineering section responsible for the management and delivery of highway engineering services. You will have the opportunity to work on highway projects in the London Borough of Wandsworth, taking responsibility from feasibility study through to design and implementation. You will be responsible for the design and delivery of highway public realm improvements, active travel projects and traffic calming / causality reduction schemes to support Wandsworth’s transport initiatives. You will also have the opportunity to work on Section 106 and 278 projects, drainage and Sustainable drainage systems projects to safeguard the Council’s highways interest and to reduce the risk of surface water flooding.Engineering knowledge and experience

You will need to demonstrate appropriate theoretical and practical methods to the analysis and solution of engineering problems. You will support Principal Engineers on relevant service and operational matters.Regulatory compliance

You will ensure design standards / best practices are followed, and compliance with all health and safety requirements such as the Construction Design and Management Regulations.Technical and commercial leadership

You will need to demonstrate effective project implementation, namely plan, budget, organise direct and control of tasks, people and resources. You will be required to use your programme and contract management skills to demonstrate excellent budgetary and financial management.Effective interpersonal skills

You will ensure all Member and general enquires about service delivery are dealt with promptly and effectively. This would include attending public meetings to actively engage with residents and businesses, and to explain engineering proposals in a non-technical manner.Essential Qualifications, Skills and Experience

Qualifications - sound theoretical and practical highway / traffic engineering application demonstrated via a professional qualification or equivalent or working towards such qualification.Knowledge - working knowledge of highways, street works, and any other relevant legislations such as health and safety requirements.Proven experience - in delivering highway projects.Commercially astuteIT Skills - Good IT skills, which will include the use of AutoCAD and Microsoft packages.This role is ideal for a highways engineer who wishes to take on additional technical and management responsibilities.Closing and interview dates
