The Role

As a Mental Health Healthcare Assistant, you will support individuals experiencing a range of mental health conditions in a safe, therapeutic, and person-centred environment. You will play a key role in promoting recovery, independence, and emotional wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

• Providing emotional support and building therapeutic relationships
• Supporting patients with daily activities and personal care where required
• Observing, monitoring, and accurately recording patient behaviour and wellbeing
• Assisting with risk management, including de-escalation techniques
• Supporting patients during activities and structured therapy sessions
• Maintaining a safe, calm, and supportive environment
• Reporting concerns and working closely with nurses and multidisciplinary teams
• Encouraging independence and recovery-focused care

Requirements

• Previous care or mental health experience (preferred but not essential)
• Compassionate, patient, and resilient approach
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to remain calm in challenging situations
• Flexible to work shifts, including weekends and nights
