1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant
I am currently recruiting for a SEN Teaching Assistant role to provide consistent 1:1 support to a Year 2 pupil within a primary school in Camden.
The pupil is autistic and fully verbal but can experience significant frustration and emotional dysregulation. At times, this may present as challenging behaviour, including throwing objects, biting and spitting, particularly when he becomes upset or frustrated.
Key Responsibilities

Provide consistent 1:1 support throughout the school day.

Srong SEN background.

Encourage and support the pupil to engage in classroom activities.

Provide reassurance and guidance during periods of emotional dysregulation.

Support the development of positive behaviour and emotional regulation strategies.

Build a trusting and positive relationship with the pupil.
-
Work collaboratively with the class teacher, SENCO and wider school team.

Help the pupil develop confidence, independence and positive engagement with learning.
The successful candidate needs to be:

Calm, patient and consistent in their approach.

Confident supporting children with autism and additional needs.

Comfortable managing challenging behaviour in a positive and supportive manner.

Emotionally resilient and able to remain composed during difficult situations.

Compassionate, encouraging and committed to supporting the pupil's individual needs.

Experienced in 1:1 SEN support or working with children with autism and challenging behaviour is highly desirable.
