The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, development, and optimisation of mechanical systems used in air flow and vacuum applications, with a focus on solvent vapor management, flow manifolds, gas switching assemblies, and motorised chamber mechanisms, including designing thermal chambers.Technical Expertise and CAD Skills – SolidWorks:Proficiency with 3D CAD software – SolidWorksDesign and develop precision flow manifolds for air and gas management in solvent vapor environmentsDesigning of gas switching manifolds and systems ensuring leak-tight performanceDesign, specify, and integrate motorised open/close chambers, including selection of suitable actuators and motion control componentsDesign high-temperature thermal chambers, demonstrating a solid understanding of thermal control principles and the factors affecting temperature stabilityExperience with water cooling systems is highly desirableDevelop and maintain manufactured, fabricated, and formed parts, including specification, design, procurement, assembly, and testingEnsure information on the ERP system is current and relevant for all designed machined and fabricated partsCollaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure products meet requirements and regulatory standards, ensuring engineering drawings comply with BS8888Identify and address technical issues related to mechanical design, manufacturability, and cost throughout the development processCoordinate with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of prototype components and materialsDocument designs thoroughly to support manufacturing, assembly, and service, including contributing to assembly instructions, service manuals, and operator manualsStrong ability to troubleshoot complex systems and develop innovative solutions to technical problems, including assembling and testing prototypesExperience with Product Data Management / Product Lifecycle Management SystemsSkills Needed:A good understanding of additive manufacturing and how to optimise 3D printing capabilitiesExperience in supplier selection and liaison with procurement departmentsAn understanding of mechanical design for EMC performanceFamiliarity with ISO9001:2008 and/or ISO13485 quality management systemsKnowledge of Material Requirements Planning (MRP) and BOM data accuracyUnderstanding of ISO7010 safety signage requirementsThe ability to identify and address technical issues quickly and effectivelyAttention to detail to ensure high standards in design, manufacturing, and deliveryExcellent communication skills for effective collaboration with cross-functional teamsQualifications and Experience:A Bachelor''s (or higher) degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, or a related fieldAt least 5+ years of experience in Mechanical engineering, design, and product developmentExperience in scientific instrumentation, laboratory equipment, or process systems is preferableWhat''s great in the job?Great team of smart people in a friendly and open cultureNo waste of time in enterprise processes, with real responsibilities and autonomyOpportunity to expand knowledge across various industriesReal responsibilities and challenges in a fast-evolving companyEach employee has a chance to see the impact of their work.
