About the Role

A leading professional services firm is seeking a Senior Planner to join its Professional Services Department.

This is a client-facing, fee-earning position involving close collaboration with colleagues across the business. You will be involved throughout the lifecycle of projects, from the early concept and feasibility stage through to the discharge of planning conditions.

The role covers a diverse range of residential, agricultural and commercial projects across the firm''s operating region.

Key Responsibilities

Your day-to-day responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Providing initial feasibility advice and preparing planning appraisals, including developing planning strategies for clients
• Dealing with pre-application enquiries
• Drafting planning statements, Design and Access Statements and other supporting documentation
• Preparing, submitting and managing a broad range of planning applications relating to residential, commercial and agricultural property, including Listed Building Consent applications
• Acting as Project Lead, including liaising with and managing external consultants
• Working collaboratively with in-house design, rural, commercial and valuation teams
• Advising on and dealing with planning conditions, Section 106 agreements, Community Infrastructure Levy and other planning obligations
• Advising on the promotion of development sites for adoption
• Preparing, submitting and managing planning appeals

Given the interprofessional nature of the work, the position will be predominantly office based, with the opportunity to work from home from time to time.

Essential Skills & Experience

• Previous client-facing experience in a similar planning role within either the public or private sector
• Experience of working effectively as part of an interprofessional team, as well as independently
• Excellent working knowledge of planning policy and regulations, the National Planning Policy Framework (NPPF), and relevant Local and Neighbourhood Plans
• Chartered Member of the Royal Town Planning Institute (MRTPI)

Desirable

• Ideally, Chartered with at least three years'' post-qualification experience (PQE)
