This is a placement with RSM Consulting that offers practical exposure to how businesses work, change, grow and succeed.

You’ll join a 12-month placement and be part of the team, contributing and learning, not just observing. Some roles have closing dates, and due to high volume we may close applications early, so apply as soon as possible. This placement can be a potential route into our graduate programme after university.

You’ll learn the language of business, understand professional life, and work with clients who trust you to help them make big decisions. This experience provides a front-row view of consulting and its impact.

What consulting is really about: solving problems that don’t have obvious answers, helping organisations make smarter decisions in the face of change. From tech to healthcare, consulting spans many industries and roles, and is fast-paced, people-driven and challenging.

At RSM, you’ll work with a wide range of clients—from start-ups to multinationals and government departments. As a placement student you’ll see it up close and contribute meaningfully.

You’ll Actually Do

You’ll support projects that matter and learn to think critically, listen carefully and contribute meaningfully in the following area:

Risk and Governance

– Helping clients stay resilient, you’ll work on identifying, managing and mitigating risk, supporting governance reviews and assurance projects to help clients build stronger, safer businesses.

Across all placement roles you’ll gain exposure to clients and key intermediaries, delivering data-driven, bespoke insights, value-add assurance and high-quality execution.

This placement is ideal for students on a sandwich degree who want to explore consulting as a career. You don’t need a business background—just a curious mind, collaborative spirit and the drive to get stuck in.

You’ll Need

A predicted honours degree

To be enrolled on a placement degree

A minimum of 112 UCAS points from 3 A Levels or equivalent Level 3 qualifications

OR 104 UCAS points across 4 Scottish Highers/Advanced Highers or Irish Leaving Certificate (Higher Level)

We don’t accept General Studies, AS levels or EPQs.

The start date for this role is 15 September 2026. Please note, our start dates are mandatory due to the internal and professional training you receive upon joining the firm.
