Key Responsibilities
As a PRU Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support) based in Merthyr Tydfil, your daily duties will include:

• Supporting pupils with SEMH needs to re-engage with learning and develop social skills
• Assisting the Class Teacher in delivering personalised learning plans that meet individual needs
• Managing behavioural challenges with patience and empathy in line with safeguarding protocols
• Fostering a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment for all pupils
• Monitoring and recording pupil progress and behaviour for assessment and planning purposes
• Promoting positive behaviour strategies and social development among pupils

Requirements & Qualifications
To be successful as a PRU Teaching Assistant (SEMH Support), you will need:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEMH needs is desirable
• Resilient, empathetic, and able to handle challenging situations calmly and professionally
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• Ability to work independently and as part of a busy educational team
• Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support, behaviour management, or similar frameworks are advantageous
• A full UK driving licence and an enhanced DBS check are typically required
