People Operations Manager 12 month FTC

The ideal candidate will lead and elevate our People Operations function during a 12-month maternity leave cover. This pivotal role will oversee HR systems, payroll, benefits, and process optimisation - ensuring seamless delivery of our People services and strategic alignment with business goals.
Do you have the following skills, experience and drive to succeed in this role Find out below.This role can be based in our Brentwood or London office with regular visits to both locations.ResponsibilitiesHR Systems and Self-ServiceOwn and optimise our HR systems to ensure continuous improvement and smooth functioning of People OperationsManage and enhance employee self-service portals for leave, attendance, benefits and other HR servicesEnsure data accuracy, compliance, and system integrityPayroll and BenefitsManage the relationship with our external payroll bureauEnsure payroll accuracy and oversee payroll processing, audits, and issue resolutionMaintain strong ties with benefit providers and brokersProcess ImprovementOversee and update People processes and templates for efficiency and complianceDrive automation and cross-functional collaborationChampion a seamless employee experienceTeam LeadershipLead a team of 4 within the People Operations functions (onboarding, record-keeping, benefits admin etc.)Provide coaching, support, and operational guidanceFoster a high-performing, fast paced, detail-oriented cultureData and Decision SupportBuild and maintain reports/dashboards on turnover, absence, and other key metricsAnalyse trends to inform workforce planning and strategic decisionsPresent insights and recommendations to senior leadershipCompliance and CultureEnsure adherence to legal and internal policiesUpdate policies in collaboration with relevant departmentsSupport DEI initiatives and inclusive practicesQualificationsBachelor’s degree (or equivalent professional qualification e.g. CIPD) in HumanExtensive experience in People Operations or similar HR rolesProven leadership across junior to senior HR admin rolesExperience in fast-paced environments and business acquisitions/TUPEStrong analytical skills and attention to detailExcellent stakeholder management and communicationSuperuser/admin and configuration experience with HR systems (Access – People XD preferred)Hands-on experience with payroll bureaus and benefit providersExperience managing relationships with brokersProven ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines whilst being highly process-driven
