OverviewTetra Tech Europe is an industry leading multinational and multidisciplinary consultancy. We have an exciting opportunity for an Environmental Planning (predominantly Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA)) Consultant to support the continued growth of our UK-based Environment, Sustainability and Planning (ESP) team and the wider business. The role involves supporting and managing environmental co-ordination and EIA projects within a consultancy environment, with opportunities to broaden skills in project management, business development, and technical assessment. The role offers the chance to influence and have an impact across the business with opportunities for career progression. The Environmental Planning team maintains high technical standards and involvement in industry groups and conferences.
Responsibilities
Project Co-ordination Support: support the project manager across multiple projects, ensuring timelines, budgets, and quality standards; coordinate with project teams, stakeholders, and subcontractors to gather data; assist with implementing project plans (screening, scoping, data collection, impact assessment, reporting).
Environmental Impact Assessment: coordinate robust assessments of environmental and socio-economic impacts; understand EIA regulations and stages; familiarity with the DCO process is advantageous; analyse data, assess risks, identify mitigation measures; stay updated with regulations and best practices; collaborate with colleagues on data related to air and water quality, biodiversity, land use, transport, and other parameters; understand methodologies and tools to evaluate impacts and predict outcomes.
Stakeholder Engagement: communicate and engage with internal and external stakeholders, including technical specialists, planners, and project developers; build and maintain relationships for transparency and collaboration.
Report Writing and Communication: prepare comprehensive EIA/SEA reports; present findings and recommendations; ensure reports are technically accurate and well-structured; conduct thorough reviews of deliverables for accuracy and regulatory compliance.
Technical Specialism: be enthusiastic to learn additional technical specialisms in areas such as climate change (adaptation and mitigation), socio-economic and human health, natural capital assessments, construction environmental management.
Requirements
A Bachelor''s and/or Master''s degree in Environmental Sciences, Environmental Management, Ecology, or related field.
Experience in supporting EIA (including Screening and Scoping) across various projects and sectors.
Knowledge of environmental laws, regulations, and guidelines related to EIA, with familiarity with the UK planning and consenting process.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to convey complex information clearly.
Project management skills, including handling multiple projects, meeting deadlines, and prioritising tasks.
Proactive problem-solving abilities, attention to detail, and analytical thinking.
