Weightmans’ IT team plays a pivotal role in the firm’s innovation strategy, enabling digital transformation across departments. The Head of Development and Low Code will lead the Development and Workflow teams, ensuring high quality releases in line with product ownership priorities and guidelines. This role oversees the Workflow (legal case management), Development and Financial services teams, with full ownership of the end-to-end development and configuration lifecycle and associated practices.This position is part of the IT Senior Management Team (SMT), which includes the IT Director, Head of Service and Service Delivery, Head of Development, Head of Hybrid Platforms, Head of Modern Workplace, and Head of Strategic Planning and Governance. The role holder should demonstrate confidence in designing and executing a strategic roadmap, and in cultivating and leading a high-performing team.Key Duties and Responsibilities

Delivery Frameworks : Develop and mature end-to-end delivery frameworks including business requirement gathering, code QA and product roadmaps.Legal Case Management (CMS) Workflow Leadership : Oversee the design, implementation, and continual improvement of legal CMS to optimise workflow, document management, and collaboration. Ensure the workflow team responds to the needs and requirements of the business, acting on instructions and feedback from business stakeholders.Web Team Leadership : Guide the web team in delivering and maintaining digital platforms that serve the business, ensuring the team takes direction from business stakeholders and provides solutions that reflect organisational priorities.Finance Systems Team Leadership : Manage and enhance financial systems supporting the business, ensuring seamless integration with wider organisational finance tools.Low Code : Lead the team in moving to low code/no code solutions.Product Ownership Development : Champion the adoption and maturity of a product ownership culture, providing direction, training, and support to product owners and stakeholders.Data Quality Assurance : Enable robust data practices to support the business in tracking data flow and preserving master data management.Testing and Quality Assurance : Ensure rigorous standards of testing and QA, delivering reliable and high-quality releases.Strategic Leadership : Own, develop and execute a strategy and roadmap for your area of responsibility.Team Management : Lead, inspire, and mentor teams. Set clear goals, provide regular feedback, foster professional growth, and create a collaborative and empowered working environment.Reporting and Analytics : Develop and present regular reports on service performance, trends, risks, and achievements to senior leadership and stakeholders. Use data to inform decision-making and strategic direction.Process Management : Develop and maintain clear documentation, knowledge base, structured processes, and transparent metrics to underpin operational excellence and regulatory compliance.Project Management Framework : Ensure IT projects and programs run to time, budget, scope and deliver the expected benefits whilst also being able to move at speed.Stakeholder Engagement : Collaborate with legal professionals, IT peers, finance and HR teams, and external vendors to deliver projects and services meeting business and compliance requirements.Continuous Improvement : Champion the organisation’s drive for operational excellence. Employ quality management methodologies (such as Lean, Six Sigma, ITIL) to streamline processes, reduce costs, and enhance service value.Collaborative working : Collaborate closely with other IT teams to ensure stability, performance and security of all IT solutions.Facilitate Success : Foster collaboration, outcome driven and high performing teams across IT through the celebration of successes and rapid intervention when needed.Risk and Compliance : Ensure all systems and processes meet relevant legal, regulatory, and data security standards.This list is not intended to be exhaustive, and you will have other duties and responsibilities that fall within the remit of this role.About You

Strong background in software development lifecycle management and agile methodologies including low code/no code and product ownership.Experience working with outsourced and hybrid (augmented) teamsCommitment to excellence and continuous improvementStrong business acumen skills including managing budgets and resources.Solutions-oriented visionary and strategic thinker.Collaborative leader with a passion for team development and mentoringKnowledge of risk management, compliance, and data protectionRelevant professional qualifications or demonstrable experience in IT, computer science, or related disciplineWhy work for us
