Recruit Assist are in a recruitment-partnership with a North London metal company, we are hiring a Purchasing Assistant for maternity cover, this will be a FTC contract starting from November 2026.

JOB TITLE: PURCHASING ASSISTANT (part time)

PART TIME SALARY: -18,7000 ( -18.00 PER HOUR)

PART TIME HOURS: 20 HOURS P.W

SHIFT PATTERN: MONDAY TO FRIDAY

PURCHASING ASSISTANT TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Check product codes, quantities, prices and delivery addresses.
• Track purchase orders from placement through to delivery.
• Update order records when suppliers provide revised information.
• Ensure purchase orders are correctly authorised.
• Match supplier order confirmations to purchase orders
• Raise and process purchase orders in line with company requirements.
• Obtain quotations from approved suppliers.
• Compare supplier prices, availability and lead times.
• Monitor outstanding purchase orders.
• Ensure orders are placed within required timescales.
• Check supplier confirmations against purchase orders.
• Maintain accurate purchasing records.
• Communicate with suppliers by telephone and email.
• Request pricing, availability and delivery information.
• Build and maintain positive supplier relationships.
• Follow up delayed or outstanding orders.
• Resolve purchasing and delivery queries.
• Escalate supplier issues where necessary.
• Maintain accurate supplier contact information.
• Assist with reviewing supplier performance.
• Monitor stock levels and identify replenishment requirements.
• Review stock reports and purchasing requirements.
• Liaise with warehouse teams regarding stock availability.
• Identify potential stock shortages.Assist with maintaining -stock levels

CANDIDATE REQUIREMENTS:

2 Years Purchasing and Procurement experience

Confident with maths and excel

Excel - VLook UP, formulas, Pivot Tables, charts
