Prospero Teaching is recruiting a SEN Teacher in Leyton, Waltham Forest, to teach pupils with learning and communication needs. You will plan a structured, accessible curriculum that connects classroom learning with communication and everyday independence. The role requires thoughtful assessment, consistent routines and a practical approach to adapting teaching for individual pupils.
Your responsibilities
- Plan lessons around pupils'' learning profiles and agreed EHCP outcomes.
- Adapt literacy, numeracy and practical activities to suit different starting points.
- Use visual and alternative communication approaches where appropriate.
- Guide teaching assistants and evaluate which support helps pupils work independently.
- Track progress and contribute to reviews with families and relevant professionals.
What you will need
- QTS and experience teaching pupils with SEND or substantially adapting a mainstream curriculum.
- Confidence assessing progress beyond age-related expectations alone.
- Strong classroom organisation and a positive, consistent approach to behaviour.
Experience of autism, severe learning difficulties or communication-focused teaching is desirable. Please outline the needs and age groups you have taught.
