We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join their supportive team and make a meaningful difference to the lives of students with Special Educational Needs.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small group support for students with a range of additional needs, including Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC), ADHD, dyslexia, and moderate learning difficulties.
• Assist in delivering tailored learning activities that meet individual education plans and support student progress.
• Encourage students to engage positively with lessons and participate fully in school life.
• Support students'' emotional, social, and behavioural development through consistent and nurturing approaches.
• Work alongside teaching staff to adapt learning resources and classroom activities to meet individual needs.
• Help maintain a safe, inclusive, and supportive learning environment.
• Monitor and record student progress, sharing observations with teachers and relevant staff.
• Provide support during break times, lunchtimes, educational visits, and extracurricular activities where required.
• Promote independence while ensuring students receive the appropriate level of support.
• Collaborate effectively with teachers, SENCOs, parents, and external professionals.

Candidate Requirements
The successful candidate will ideally possess:

• GCSE Grade C/4 or above in English and Maths (or equivalent).
• Previous experience supporting children or young people with Special Educational Needs, particularly at KS3 and KS4 level.
• A Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning, or a similar childcare/education qualification.
• An understanding of a variety of SEN needs and effective support strategies.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• A patient, caring, and empathetic approach.
• The ability to build positive relationships with students and staff.
• Confidence working both independently and as part of a wider support team.
• A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people.
• Enhanced DBS clearance, or willingness to obtain one.

Desirable Skills and Experience

• Specialist SEN training or relevant professional development.
• Experience supporting students with Autism, ADHD, SEMH, or communication difficulties.
• Knowledge of Makaton, British Sign Language (BSL), or alternative communication methods.
• Understanding of inclusive classroom practices and behaviour support strategies.
