Rotherwood Education are currently recruiting for an experienced Training & Development Coach to join the Construction and Motor team at a well-established further education college in the Blackburn area.

This is a full-time temporary role, starting 12 October 2026 for approximately 4 weeks, providing cover for a member of staff during a period of absence.

The successful candidate will deliver and assess the Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship, alongside workplace coaching, assessment and progress reviews. The role will be based in the Blackburn area, with travel required across Lancashire to employer premises.

Responsibilities of the Training & Development Coach

• Plan and deliver high-quality theory and practical workshop sessions for Level 2 Autocare Technician apprentices.
• Deliver and assess against the requirements of the Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship standard.
• Deliver practical workshop sessions safely and in line with health and safety requirements.
• Assess apprentices' knowledge, skills and behaviours and provide clear, developmental feedback.
• Maintain accurate records of teaching, assessment, progress and off-the-job training.
• Undertake workplace visits to coach and assess apprentices across Lancashire.
• Complete tripartite progress reviews with apprentices and employers.
• Liaise with employers regarding apprentice progress and address any emerging concerns.
• Manage a caseload of 14 Motor Vehicle apprentices, with a further 4–7 apprentices potentially joining.
• Complete any Painting and Decorating apprentice progress reviews that fall due during the cover period.
• Support apprentices to remain on track for timely achievement and end-point assessment.
• Complete planning, administration and assessment documentation as required.

Working Pattern

The successful candidate will work 5 days per week, consisting of:

• 2 days delivering workshop-based teaching – fixed teaching days are Tuesday and Thursday in the Blackburn area.
• 3 days undertaking workplace coaching, assessment and progress reviews, with travel required to employer premises across Lancashire.

Flexibility will be required on the remaining days to accommodate employer visits, reviews, assessment, planning and administrative duties.

The Ideal Training & Development Coach Will Have

• Current and relevant occupational competence and industry experience in Motor Vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
• Experience delivering the Level 2 Autocare Technician apprenticeship standard, including practical workshop delivery.
• A recognised assessor qualification such as A1, D32/D33, TAQA or CAVA.
• Experience coaching and assessing apprentices in the workplace.
• Experience completing apprentice progress reviews and working effectively with employers.
• A strong understanding of apprenticeship requirements, including off-the-job training, progress monitoring and end-point assessment.
• A recognised teaching qualification at Level 3 or above, such as Level 3 Award in Education and Training, Level 4 Certificate in Education and Training, Cert Ed or PGCE.
• Experience using apprenticeship e-portfolio systems.
• Experience supporting learners with additional needs.
• Previous experience within an FE college or apprenticeship training environment.
• Excellent communication, organisation and time management skills.
• A full driving licence and access to a vehicle, with the ability to travel between sites across Lancashire.
• Appropriate DBS clearance, safeguarding awareness and right-to-work checks.
