Technology Operations ManagerLocation: London (Barbican office, 5 days a week)Reports to: Head of TechnologyStarting: ASAPAbout the RoleSelf-Portrait is seeking a proactive and detail-focussed Technology Operations Manager to become the first hire in building out our Technology function. Reporting directly to the Head of Technology — the brand’s first dedicated tech leader — you’ll play a pivotal role in establishing stability and scalability as our globally trading business continues to grow. This is a rare opportunity to take ownership of key systems and operational initiatives in a fast-paced brand that counts Kate Moss, Beyoncé and Catherine, Princess of Wales amongst our representatives and clients.You will lead the scoping and delivery of core technology projects alongside being the BAU point-person for system integrations and preparing our workflows for peak trading. This role requires someone who thrives on attention to detail, solving complex challenges, driving improvements and collaborating across multiple internal and external teams to deliver stability and innovation.Like other core functions, the Technology team has responsibility over both Self-Portrait and our other brand under the SP Collection umbrella, Roland Mouret.Key ResponsibilitiesSupported by the Head of Technology, lead the planning and implementation of technology projects that enable the business to continue scaling whilst keeping brand, customer experience and commercial considerations in mind
Be both proactive and reactive in maintaining the integrations between our warehouses, Shopify instances andother business-critical platforms. Manage projects where our partners transition to new WMS solutions or other operational tech stack changes
Support our merchandising team by scoping and delivering integrations that will maximise impact of our new inventory / buying management tool
Be the expert in planning and executing the controlled adoption / integration of aligned product data across the business, mastered in our new PLM and accounting for everyone’s needs
Monitor systems performance across our tech stack, proactively identifying and responding to issues, communicating them as appropriate and implementing / managing efficient workarounds where needed
Manage the testing and rollout of defined new features, collection launches and logistics updates. Being both proactive and reactive during large seasonal peaks
Co-own Shopify Flow implementation and monitoring, alongside our eCommerce team
Drive adoption of new tools and maximise the use of existing systems. Ensure that we have representative staging / testing environments and integrations to accurately test end-to-end workflows before pushing to production
Represent the function and brand with external vendors and technology providers to ensure timely delivery of solutions and ongoing support
Lead the development of our project management / capacity management methodologies, providing visibility and managing expectations to teams across the business
Lead a project to evaluate the best fit collaboration tooling for use across the business. Present findings and lead managed transition projects / best practice alignment where needed
Where needed, work alongside our Office Manager as a liaison between our internal team members and our external IT Support agency
When the Head of Technology is not available, triage requests into the department and execute, escalate or manage expectations as appropriate
Core Candidate Requirements4+ years of experience in technology operations, ecommerce systems management or digital project management, ideally within fashion, retail or a consumer brand
Strong understanding of ecommerce platforms (Shopify preferred) and third-party logistics (3PL) integrations incl. API and CSV/SFTP solutions
Hands-on experience with at least 2 key system types across PLM, ERP, finance, OMS, reverse logistics, middleware, inventory management, PIM, CDP, BI
Track record of scoping and delivering cross-functional technology projects, including testing and rollout of integrations in collaboration with external partners
Highly organised and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Excellent problem-solving skills with a hands-on approach and attention to detail
An interest in the inner-workings of the complex and evolving fashion industry
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and translate technical detail for a wide range of stakeholders
Desirable Candidate RequirementsKnowledge of AI-powered tools and the ability / interest to cut through marketing materials to understand true business / user value
Hands-on user of and views on the role of ‘vibe coding’
Developer / coding experience
Knowledge of GDPR and data protection best practices
Reporting / BI experience
Certifications / familiarity with project management frameworks (Agile, PRINCE2, PMP)
