Overview
Vice President, ESG, Real Estate — London-based role at GIC. ESG is integral to GIC''s mandate, driving sustainability integration across the Real Estate department and related teams. The successful candidate will drive ESG strategy, integrate sustainability factors into investment processes, asset management of real assets, reporting and analytics, and be a liaison between Asset Management/Investment Management and the ADE team in Europe. The role emphasizes proactive asset improvement planning and portfolio value creation, with a focus on monitoring regulatory developments and collaborating with partners on asset improvements.Responsibilities
Portfolio activities: Collaborate with ADE, AM, and IM teams to integrate ESG metrics and goals into screening, due diligence, asset management, and divestment activities.Evaluate sector- and geography-specific ESG market drivers to prioritize asset improvement plans with ADE, AM, and IM.Coordinate ESG-related asset improvement plans with managers and third-party partners.Oversee key ESG projects (e.g., carbon footprint assessments, regulatory monitoring) across GIC''s real estate portfolio.Collaborate with Asset Management to track emerging ESG trends, evolving regulations, and their implications for the portfolio.Engage with business partners, consultants, and benchmarking agencies to stay aligned with industry developments and research.Prepare for ESG reporting and disclosures in accordance with industry standards.Reporting activities: Oversee ESG data collection for real estate assets; design templates and coordinate with external partners; work with Portfolio Monitoring to support reporting needs.Develop and operationalize ESG dashboards, metrics, and processes to monitor and evaluate ESG considerations in investments.Lead ESG data validation and implement data-driven action plans.Lead projects to support the Real Estate division with ESG framework implementation, including workflows, data management, analytics, and tools.Manage integration of ESG reporting in deal sourcing.Requirements
Prior relevant experience including experience within the ESG space is required.Solid understanding of Real Estate as an asset class.Team player with ability to forge strong partnerships with internal and external stakeholders across regions.Familiarity with ESG regulations, standards and trends including International Sustainability Standards Board (ISSB) guidelines.Analytical mind and meticulous attention to detail.Degree-educated or equivalent practical experience.Strong problem-solving skills.Previous exposure in data management or reporting and analytics, ideally within investing, consulting, or operating environments.Good knowledge of data visualization/analysis tools such as Tableau (advantageous).What Impact Can You Make in This Role?
