Your opportunity
We are seeking a Senior Risk Analyst to join the Alternatives Investment Risk team, supporting multi-strategy, multi-asset portfolios. The role demands a quantitative mindset, programming ability, good knowledge of factor models and derivatives. You will have strong communication and interpersonal skills, a solid understanding of risk models and investment processes, and be self-sufficient with initiative.
The Investment Risk team is a front-office function. You will support the Head of Alternatives Investment Risk in ensuring the fund risk profile reflects client expectations and in continuously improving risk-adjusted returns. This includes working closely with Portfolio Managers, identifying explicit and hidden risks, and owning escalation and resolution of issues. You will also help analyze returns to quantify and understand drivers of performance.
Responsibilities
Design processes to ensure accurate risk analytics are available on a timely basis.
Analyse risk attribution reports for use by Portfolio Managers, the Head of Alternatives Investment Risk, Asset Class Heads, senior management, board directors, marketing, and compliance.
Work with Portfolio Managers in regular risk review meetings and off-cycle discussions covering investment risk, performance, and other relevant metrics.
Partner with investment teams on fund structuring and portfolio optimisation strategies.
Respond to direct requests from Portfolio Managers and proactively interact with them.
Contribute to development of portfolio risk analysis, enhance risk modelling and analytics, and create insightful analysis on funds.
Collaborate with Technology and external vendors to streamline systems and workflows and drive efficiency.
Escalate concerns and highlight risk levels and drivers to the team and senior management.
Produce ad hoc reports focused on risk issues in prevailing markets.
Support implementation and development of quantitative solutions for risk management.
Provide mentoring and technical support within the team and contribute to overall success.
Perform other tasks and duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility.

Must have skills
Experience: Degree in Quantitative Finance, Statistics, or a related field; background in investment risk, quantitative finance, or front-office risk management; prior experience in a similar role.
Technical: Experience across multiple asset classes with understanding of risk/return; strong knowledge of derivatives; strong knowledge of risk models with emphasis on factor models; strong quantitative skills including Excel, Python, and SQL; understanding of risk concepts, stress testing, and scenario analysis.
Personal attributes: Self-motivated, results-oriented, able to work with limited supervision; strong problem-solving, attention to detail; excellent written and verbal communication; ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks; interest in staying current with markets and the investment industry.
Nice to have skills
Experience with multi-strategy hedge funds or alternatives investments
Knowledge of risk systems (MSCI RiskMetrics, Barra, Bloomberg)
Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., PowerBI)
CFA, FRM, or CQF qualifications preferred but not required
