Senior Town Planner
Location: London
Salary: -45,000 - -55,000

A multidisciplinary consultancy offering a broad range of planning and architectural services across the industrial, commercial, residential and mixed-use sectors is looking to expand its London team. They are seeking a skilled and experienced Senior Town Planner to join them at an exciting stage of growth.

Key responsibilities of the Senior Town Planner:

• Delivering strategic and detailed planning advice to clients and project teams
• Carrying out planning appraisals and highlighting development opportunities and constraints
• Shaping and delivering planning strategies across a variety of development schemes
• Overseeing the preparation and submission of full, outline and hybrid planning applications
• Coordinating multidisciplinary project teams and external consultants
• Engaging and negotiating with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
• Handling planning conditions, amendments, variations and associated submissions
• Assisting with, and where suitable leading, planning appeals
• Providing advice on Section 106 agreements and related planning obligations
• Drafting representations on development plans and emerging planning policy
• Helping to promote sites through the plan-making process

Requirements for the Senior Town Planner:

• An RTPI-accredited degree in Town Planning or a closely related discipline
• Chartered RTPI membership, or actively working towards it
• Substantial experience within a planning consultancy, development company, architectural practice or similar setting
• Sound understanding of the UK planning system and the development management process
• Track record of managing planning applications from initial concept through to determination
• Experience in commercial, industrial, logistics, employment or mixed-use projects would be an advantage
• Ability to shape clear, commercially realistic planning strategies
• Experience leading multidisciplinary teams and external consultants
• Confidence engaging with local planning authorities and other stakeholders
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Strong organisational and project management skills
• Able to work independently while contributing positively to a collaborative team
• A commercial mindset with a good grasp of clients'' development goals
