SCHOOL CARETAKEREdmonton, North London

Salary: £28,(Apply online only)–£32,(Apply online only) per annum, depending on experience
Hours: Full-time, Monday–Friday
Start Date: ASAP / To be agreed

We are looking for a reliable, practical and hardworking School Caretaker to join our friendly school community in Edmonton, North London.

The successful candidate will play an important role in ensuring our school site is safe, secure, clean, well-maintained and welcoming for pupils, staff and visitors.

• Opening and securing the school premises each day
• Carrying out daily checks of the school buildings, grounds and facilities
• Undertaking general maintenance, repairs and basic DIY
• Ensuring the school site is safe, clean and well presented
• Responding promptly to maintenance issues and emergencies
• Monitoring heating, lighting, water and other building services
• Maintaining school grounds, including basic gardening and outdoor upkeep
• Setting up and moving furniture and equipment when required
• Liaising with contractors and supervising external maintenance work
• Supporting the school with health and safety checks
• Maintaining appropriate records of inspections and repairs
• Reporting any hazards, damage or security concerns to the appropriate member of staff

• Has previous experience in caretaking, maintenance, facilities or a similar role
• Is practical and confident carrying out general repairs and maintenance
• Takes pride in maintaining a safe and attractive environment
• Is reliable, organised and able to work independently
• Has good communication and interpersonal skills
• Can respond calmly and effectively to unexpected situations
• Understands the importance of safeguarding and working in a school environment
• Is willing to undertake relevant training where required
