A specialist SEN school in Thatcham is looking for an enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join its team as soon as possible. This is a fantastic opportunity to support pupils with a range of Special Educational Needs, including Autism (ASD), ADHD, communication difficulties, learning disabilities and social, emotional and mental health (SEMH) needs.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work alongside experienced teaching staff to provide tailored support throughout the school day. You will help pupils access an adapted curriculum, develop essential life skills and overcome individual barriers to learning.

As an SEN Teaching Assistant, your responsibilities will include:

• Providing 1:1 and small-group support to pupils with additional needs
• Supporting teachers in delivering an adapted and engaging curriculum
• Encouraging communication, independence and social development
• Helping pupils manage emotional and sensory needs
• Supporting positive behaviour and classroom engagement
• Adapting activities to accommodate different learning abilities
• Working collaboratively with teachers, therapists and other SEN professionals

The school is looking for someone who is patient, reliable and enthusiastic about working with children who have additional needs. Previous experience in SEN education, childcare, healthcare, mentoring or support work would be advantageous, although graduates and individuals looking to develop a career in specialist education are encouraged to apply.
