Consultant Psychiatrist
to work at Cygnet Hospital Sherwood, providing senior medical cover on Fern Ward, our 12-bed male PICU service.Cygnet Hospital Sherwood is a state-of-the-art PICU and acute hospital for men in Nottinghamshire. The hospital has a multidisciplinary team (MDT) supporting the acute mental health needs of adults, including those requiring intensive care.The post holder will be the Responsible Clinician, overseeing and maintaining the care of all ward inpatients, and will be responsible for auditing medical services to ensure they meet GMC standards and other professional guidelines.Your expertise will drive life-changing treatments, supported by a Specialty Doctor and a first-class MDT including nurses, psychologists, and occupational therapists. There are opportunities for career progression to Medical Director through our management schemes.At Cygnet, you''ll enjoy professional development, discounts on shopping, travel, leisure, healthcare, and financial benefits, supporting your well-being both in and out of work.Apply now to enjoy excellent career prospects while making a difference every day.Main Duties and ResponsibilitiesLead the provision of high-quality care on Fern WardAct as a positive role model and maintain a professional attitude towards patients, families, visitors, and staffTake responsibility for patient treatment plans in collaboration with the MDTAssess referrals and conduct mental state examinationsPerform investigations, diagnosis, and treatmentConduct ward rounds, patient reviews, and clinical auditsImplement risk assessments, risk management, and uphold clinical governanceSupervise reports for Mental Health Act tribunals and attend hearingsLiaise with the Ministry of Justice regarding patient transfers and leave approvalsMaintain accurate patient recordsCommunicate regularly with the Site Medical Director and Hospital ManagerEngage with patients, families, staff, and other stakeholders through effective communicationParticipate in academic meetings and adhere to GMC, Department of Health, and Royal College of Psychiatrists standards for CPDContribute to the Telephone On-call rotaWhy Cygnet?
