HGV Technician - Wednesbury, West Midlands

Our client, a leading fleet operation based in Wednesbury, West Midlands, is seeking an experienced HGV Technician to join their dynamic team. This is a full-time position offering a -45,000 basic salary, with opportunities for additional earnings. Duties as an HGV Technician:

• Perform routine servicing, repairs, and maintenance on heavy goods vehicles (HGVs)
• Diagnose and repair mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic faults efficiently
• Conduct vehicle inspections, health checks, and road tests
• Execute preventative maintenance to meet DVSA standards and compliance
• Utilise diagnostic equipment for accurate fault identification and rectification
• Prepare vehicles for MOT testing, ensuring fleet compliance
• Carry out engine, transmission, brake, suspension, and electrical repairs
• Maintain accurate records of maintenance work and service history
• Ensure a clean, safe, and organised workshop environment as an HGV Technician
• Collaborate with colleagues to maximise vehicle uptime and operational efficiency
• Communicate repair findings and recommended actions clearly to management

Requirements:

• Level 3 qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair or equivalent
• Proven experience working on HGVs, LGVs, or commercial vehicles
• Strong diagnostic and fault-finding abilities
• Excellent technical knowledge of modern commercial vehicle systems
• Full UK Driving Licence; HGV licence desirable but not essential
• Strong organisational skills and meticulous attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment
• Proactive approach to maintenance and problem-solving
