Title: Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

Key Maintenance Engineer Responsibilities:
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance across production and site equipment.
- Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise production downtime.
- Act as the lead engineer on site, providing day-to-day technical guidance and support to the engineering team (no direct reports).
- Ensure machinery is operating safely, efficiently, and to the required production standards.
- Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and emergency maintenance requirements.
- Conduct routine inspections, fault finding, and equipment health checks.
- Order, fit, and replace components and spare parts as required.
- Work closely with the Engineering Manager to improve equipment reliability and site performance.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance machine efficiency and reduce recurring faults.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and complete quality inspections on all engineering work.
- Promote and maintain high standards of Health & Safety, food safety, and hygiene across the site.
Maintenance Engineer Requirements:
Essential:
- Maintenance Engineer with recognised electrical qualifications.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations (or equivalent) is essential.
- Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding and maintenance experience.
- Previous experience within a food manufacturing, FMCG, or similar production environment.
- Ability to prioritise planned maintenance alongside reactive breakdowns.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- Strong understanding of Health & Safety legislation and safe working practices.
- Ability to work independently while leading engineering activities on shift.
Desired:
- Time-served apprenticeship in Electrical or Maintenance Engineering.
- HNC/HND or equivalent qualification in Electrical or Mechanical Engineering.
- Experience leading or mentoring small engineering teams.
- Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies and equipment reliability techniques.
