Position: Cover Supervisor 

Location: Redbridge 

Salary: £27,086 - £28,295 per annum 

Contract: Permanent - Full Time - Term Time Only 

Start Date: September 2025 

An ambitious and inclusive secondary school in East London is seeking a confident and motivated Cover Supervisor to join its team. This role offers the chance to work with dedicated staff and enthusiastic students in a thriving learning environment.

The Role
Working under the guidance of teaching staff, you will supervise classes during the absence of the regular teacher, ensuring a calm and purposeful learning atmosphere. You will also work with small groups of students to close gaps in learning, and contribute to wider school life through extra-curricular clubs and activities.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone considering a career in teaching who wishes to gain experience before progressing to Initial Teacher Training, or for those from other professional backgrounds seeking a rewarding school-based role.

Key Responsibilities:

• Deliver lessons and activities set by teaching staff.

• Maintain high standards of behaviour in line with the school’s policies.

• Support individual or small groups of students to ensure progress.

• Use ICT effectively to enhance learning.

• Cover tutor periods, assemblies, and participate in educational visits.

• Assist with administrative and organisational tasks as required.

The Ideal Candidate Will Have:

• Strong behaviour management and communication skills.

• A flexible, positive, and team-focused approach.

• The ability to engage and motivate students of all abilities.

• Previous experience working with young people (school-based experience preferred).

• Level 3 qualifications or equivalent, with strong literacy and numeracy skills.

Contract Details:

• Hours: 36 hours per week, 44.8 weeks per year (term time only)

• Salary: £31,524 – £32,931 FTE (pro-rata £27,086 – £28,295)

• Start Date: September 2025 (or sooner by negotiation)

• Enhanced DBS required
