Global Environmental and Social Deal Services - Vice President

As a Global Environmental and Social Risks Vice President within the Environmental and Social (EandS) Deal Services team, you will support the Global Banking franchise by reviewing clients and transactions according to the firm''s EandS Policy Framework. Positioned in the first Line of Defense, the team provides subject matter expertise and manages EandS risks. This role offers exposure to ESG issues across various geographies and financial products. You will independently assess deals, lead EandS due diligence, and contribute to strategic objectives. You should be a self-starter with strong communication skills, attention to detail, and a solid understanding of sustainability and ESG issues.
Responsibilities
Evaluate EandS requirements for relevant transactions
Analyze the EandS profile and performance of clients
Support bankers and deal teams by advising clients on EandS issues when necessary
Serve as an EandS subject matter expert and collaborate with key internal stakeholders on EandS topics
Enhance the training of bankers and deal teams in EandS risk assessment
Lead and contribute to the team''s strategic planning, objectives, and key results
Provide essential analysis and deliverables related to ESG risks and procedures
Engage with a wide range of internal stakeholders to influence the firm''s broader EandS agenda
Qualifications, Capabilities, and Skills
Extensive experience in environmental and social risk or sustainability, ideally within the financial services industry, ESG analysis, consultancy firms, or key sectors such as oil and gas, mining, power, and commodities
A university degree in a pertinent field, such as environmental studies, sustainability, geography, development economics, or finance
Knowledge of sustainable finance regulations and market developments, including taxonomies, the Task Force on Climate-Related Financial Disclosures, and ESG product ratings etc
Strong understanding of banking products and decision-making processes
Demonstrated ability to take ownership of projects and lead initiatives that drive the EandS agenda forward, aligning team efforts with broader organizational goals to drive meaningful change
Strong self-starter mentality with a proactive approach to identifying and addressing potential EandS risks, with flexibility to manage multiple tasks and adapt to changing priorities
Ability to anticipate challenges and develop strategic solutions independently
Ability to think strategically and envision short, medium, and long-term impacts of EandS initiatives
Proven track record of performing well under pressure and meeting tight deadlines, demonstrating resilience and adaptability in dynamic environments
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and succinctly, both in writing and verbally, while building strong relationships with stakeholders
