Overview
Senior Systems Designer – contract until Jan 2027. Media Molecule. We are a multi-award winning game developer and part of the PlayStation Studios group, known for games such as LittleBigPlanet, Tearaway and Dreams. This role is based at our Guildford studio with a minimum of 2 days per week onsite (inside IR35).Responsibilities
Apply your sharp systems knowledge to refine and implement robust and scalable systems, spot edge cases early and highlight potential issues or synergies with other systemsWhen necessary, create accessible prototypes and clear system user flows to illustrate ideas and inform design documentationUse insights to identify data points to validate a design’s success or failure, and determine the dials required to adjust accordinglyOwn the balance of your systems and how they work within the overall game progression goals, in collaboration with the principal system designer and analytics teamContinuously play the game and contribute insights on how to improve itCollaborate with Media Molecule design and engineering teams to navigate technical limitations, proactively identify risks and roadblocks, and propose innovative solutions with progress against quality, scope and game visionProvide technical reference for the wider design team, evaluate features and settings, and share best practices in production workflowsRapidly respond to and iterate on player feedback and telemetry to improve player experience while maintaining the game visionChampion a mindset of innovation and continuous improvement by reviewing and evolving design tools, processes and pipelinesYou will
Have hands-on systems design experience and technical knowledge, including schema creation, in-engine implementation and tuningBe a strong critical and analytical thinker with attention to detail and opportunities for tuning the system or balancing for best effectHave shipped or worked on at least one AAA console game built on a custom engineEconomy balancing or modelling experience is a bonusBe a self-starter who thrives in an agile environmentHave participated in User Testing processes and championed data-informed designBe a great collaborator and communicator – you thrive when solving problems with the team and sharing outputs in a playable buildQualifications
