The Opportunity

As an experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will oversee the commercial packages on a -50m large-scale warehouse and distribution facility in Bristol. The role involves overseeing all aspects of cost management, including the preparation of detailed estimates, budgets, and forecasts, while closely monitoring project expenditures to ensure alignment with financial targets. In addition, the position requires providing leadership and mentorship to junior surveyors, ensuring full compliance with contractual obligations and implementing robust cost control strategies to deliver the project successfully.

What We''re Looking For

Experience:

  • Extensive background within the industry with at least 5 years of experience working in a Senior Quantity Surveyor position or similar for a leading contractor or subcontractor
  • Demonstrated track record of successfully delivering commercial packages on major/large scale projects

Key Responsibilities

  • Procurement operations
  • Reporting regularly to the Project Manager
  • Assessment of tender pricing and cost allocations
  • Evaluate and compare bids from contractors and suppliers
  • Utilise robust and efficient cost management techniques to maintain budgetary control
  • Prepare thorough cost assessments and feasibility evaluations to inform project planning
  • Manage and oversee project expenditures, ensuring they align with budgetary constraints
  • Supervise the financial effects of design modifications and negotiate any necessary revisions
  • Track and manage cash flow, providing stakeholders with accurate and timely financial insights
  • Direct negotiation strategies and foster resolution of conflicts to support collaborative agreements
  • Collaborate closely with project stakeholders, including clients, architects, engineers, and contractors
  • Design and implement cost reporting systems to provide clear visibility and control over project finances
  • Participate in project meetings, providing expert advice and insights on financial and cost-related issues
  • Manage and maintain detailed, up-to-date records of all project-related financial transactions and documentation
  • Implement and enforce policies to ensure compliance with industry standards, legal regulations, and best practices
  • Offer professional guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering skill development and knowledge sharing
  • Prepare detailed cost plans and projections to support efficient budget management from initiation to completion
  • Monitor cost and financial risks related to the project and apply strategies to address and mitigate potential issues
  • Negotiate and secure contract agreements with contractors and suppliers in accordance with project scope and budget
  • Maintain strict alignment with contractual commitments and project specifications, ensuring seamless delivery in line with client expectations
  • Compile, review, and report on material consumption and reconciliation, providing accurate data to support project management and cost control processes
