TeacherActive is currently recruiting for a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN TA to join a supportive school in Carshalton, South London, starting as soon as possible.

The school supports pupils with a range of special educational needs (SEN) and provides a nurturing, structured environment where pupils are encouraged to develop academically, socially and emotionally.

As an SEN TA, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide both 1:1 and small-group support, helping pupils to access learning, remain engaged and develop greater independence.

You may support pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH, communication needs, sensory needs and learning difficulties, so a patient, adaptable and positive approach is essential.

You will help pupils manage their emotions and behaviour, encourage positive engagement with learning and build strong, trusting relationships. You will also support individual targets and contribute towards pupils'' EHCP outcomes where appropriate.

The successful SEN TA will have:

• Previous experience working with children or young people with SEN
• Experience supporting ASC, ADHD, SEMH or additional learning needs is highly desirable
• Experience providing 1:1 or small-group support
• A calm, patient and resilient approach
• Strong behaviour management skills
• Confidence supporting pupils with emotional regulation and engagement
• An understanding of different communication and sensory needs
• The ability to adapt activities to individual pupils
• An understanding of EHCPs and personalised support
• Strong communication and teamwork skills
• A good understanding of safeguarding and pupil wellbeing
• The ability to build positive and trusting relationships with pupils
• A reliable, proactive and flexible attitude

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide 1:1 and small-group SEN support
• Support pupils with ASC, ADHD, SEMH and additional learning needs
• Help pupils access classroom activities and learning
• Adapt resources and activities to individual needs
• Support pupils with communication and social interaction
• Encourage positive behaviour and emotional regulation
• Help pupils develop confidence, independence and life skills
• Support individual learning targets and EHCP outcomes
• Assist teachers with delivering personalised learning activities
• Provide reassurance and support to pupils who may experience anxiety or difficulty with changes to routine
• Monitor and provide feedback on pupil progress
• Create a calm, structured and positive learning environment
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs and other professionals
• Follow safeguarding procedures and prioritise the wellbeing of every pupil
