Health and Safety Manager - Refurbishment and Fit Out ContractorLocation: South West LondonSalary: Competitive + packageFetch is working exclusively with a respected refurbishment and fit out contractor based in South West London who are looking to strengthen their team with the appointment of an experienced Health and Safety Manager.The Health and Safety Manager will take ownership of the company''s HandS strategy and ensure compliance across multiple projects, reporting directly to the Directors. This is a key role within the business, offering the opportunity to shape procedures, support site teams, and maintain the highest levels of safety across complex refurbishment and fit out schemes.

Responsibilities

Develop, implement, and maintain the company''s health and safety management systems in line with current legislation and best practice

Conduct site audits, inspections, and risk assessments, ensuring findings are documented and acted upon

Work closely with project teams, site managers, and subcontractors to promote a positive safety culture

Prepare, review, and approve risk assessments and method statements (RAMS) for all site activities

Deliver toolbox talks, training sessions, and safety briefings to site staff and subcontractors

Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses, preparing detailed reports and implementing corrective actions

Liaise with external bodies including clients, consultants, and regulatory authorities

Provide advice and guidance to Directors and senior management on HandS performance and compliance

Ensure all statutory records and documentation are up to date and readily available

Support pre-construction planning, advising on HandS requirements during design and procurement stages

Drive continuous improvement of safety processes, systems, and procedures across the business

Candidate Requirements

Proven experience as a Health and Safety Manager (or HandS Advisor ready to step up) within the construction sector

Strong track record in refurbishment and fit out projects (high-end residential experience highly desirable)

NEBOSH or equivalent HandS qualification is essential

Excellent communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage with teams at all levels

Proactive and hands-on approach, with the confidence to challenge unsafe practices and drive improvements
