Machine Operative

Location: Huddersfield

Pay: -12.50p/h starting rate, rising to -13.56p/h once trained (reviewed in April 2026)

Overtime rates: time + 20% Mon - Fri and x1.75 weekend rate

Duration: 12 weeks Temporary - Permanent

Hours of work: Monday - Thursday: 8:00am - 6:00pm & Friday: 8:00am - 5:00pm

Please note this role requires regular mandatory overtime during busy periods. When overtime is scheduled, hours will be: Monday - Thursday: 6:00am - 6:00pm & Friday: 6:00am - 5:00pm

Role and Responsibilities:

• Operate and monitor extrusion machinery to produce products in line with production specifications.
• Set up extrusion machines, including loading materials, adjusting temperatures, and configuring tooling.
• Monitor product quality during production and make adjustments to maintain required standards.
• Carry out routine machine checks, cleaning, and basic maintenance to ensure equipment runs efficiently.
• Record production data, machine settings, and quality checks accurately.
• Identify and report any machine faults, material issues, or quality concerns to supervisors or maintenance teams.
• Follow health and safety procedures, ensuring safe operation of all machinery and equipment.
• Maintain a clean and organised work area in line with company housekeeping standards.
• Work closely with team members and supervisors to meet production targets and deadlines.

Essential skills needed for the role:

• Previous machine operating experience
• Extrusion or laminating experience or knowledge desirable
• Counterbalance FLT ideal but not essential as training can be given
• Ability to work 12 hour shifts
• Awareness and general understanding of Health and Safety within the workplace
